• Fresh Beginnings, a production of the African American Museum of Dallas, Texas, has opened at the IU Kokomo Art Gallery. The exhibit features the works of Adrian Baxter and Robert Pruitt, two recent grads of Texas Southern University, who use recycled and found materials to create work expressing the interest and issues of African-American youth.

  At IUPUI, internationally recognized artist Philippe Dodard brings his struggles and triumphs in his Haitian homeland in Words of Light, which explores the traditional Haitian themes of religion and ceremony with a modern twist. Both exhibits run through Feb. 28. Call 317-278-2533 to check on hours for the IUPUI exhibit.
