Psychologist Na'im Akbar to speak Feb. 20

'Community of self'

A psychologist hailed as one of the great thinkers and orators of our time will speak Saturday, Feb. 20, in the ballroom of the Madame Walker Urban Life Center, 617 Indiana Ave., Indianapolis, at 6 p.m.

Akbar Na'im Akbar is a frequent speaker on the topic of "the community of self" and has been described by Essence magazine as "one of the world's preeminent psychologists and a pioneer in the development of an African centered approach in modern psychology."

He is on the faculty at Florida State University. The presentation is free and sponsored by the Black Student Union at IUPUI.
