Amy Hempel will present "Short, Short Prose, Poems or 'Couldn't Finish'" Feb. 23 on the IPFW campus as part of the Omni Lecture series. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Walb Union.
Hempel is known for her funny, lyrical short stories, many of which feature dogs and other furry creatures. Her short story collections are Tumble Home, Animal Kingdom and Reasons to Live. She co-edited Unleashed: Poems by Writers' Dogs in 1995, and her fiction has appeared in numerous magazines, including Harper's, Vanity Fair, Mother Jones and The Quarterly. She is a contributing editor at Bomb magazine and currently teaches in the writing program at Bennington College and the New York School.
