• Last week, the two-day Indiana Association of Nursing Students annual convention was held in northwest Indiana for the first time, in Merrillville, due in large part to IU Northwest nursing student and state convention director Tina Willoughby.

• Lois Jean White of Knoxville, Tenn., is national president of the PTA, the first African-American to serve is that office. She has a music degree from Fisk and had done extensive graduate work at the IU School of Music.
