• The IU School of Medicine educates the second largest medical student body in the United States.

  Recently, 251 IUSM seniors completed a spring rite of passage: participation in the National Resident Matching Program, through which med students apply for residency programs at U.S. teaching hospitals. Approximately 48 percent of IUSM seniors will enter primary care programs--internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, combined internal medicine-pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology. Forty-four percent of the students "matched" to residency programs in the state which are offered in Indianapolis, Muncie, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Terre Haute and Evansville.
