IU Visitor Information Center one year old
The IU Visitor Information Center, a joint effort of the IU Office of the Vice Chancellor and the Office of Admissions, marks its first anniversary this month.
Here's a "report card" on the center, which is located on the ground floor of Carmichael Center.
- It's served approximately 5,000 visitors
- Provided tours for approximately 1,000 guests
- Distributed more than 25,000 pieces of literature
- Distributed 300 "contact cards," 126 of which responded to the Office of Admissions.

The center accommodates visitors to the IUB campus during times when the IU departments and other university facilities are not open, such as weekends, spring break and winter holidays. It also assists visitors who want basic and general information about IU and the City of Bloomington.
Among its future goals, according to center director Carol Stokes, is to initiate a program in conjunction with departments to provide tours to prospective graduate students, faculty and staff, and to establish partnerships with diverse student groups to build a student ambassador program.
