Home Pages takes you today to Martha K. Holder's VirtuOffice. Holder, an affiliated scientist with the Center for the Integrative Study of Animal Behavior at IUB, will knock your mittens off with this one. Apparently, the rest of the world thinks so, too. The site has been accessed more than 1.9 million times by more than 1,000 different U.S. educational institutions. 
Among other great possibilities, you can hear the mountain gorilla burp, the Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii (uh, that would be the common chimpanzee) scream, and see and hear any number of primates Holder has studied in East Africa. You'll also get involved in the "issue of handedness and brain lateralization," and see what barriers left-handers living in a right-biased society have to deal with. going research on "human handedness" by filling out a questionnaire. (Data will not be analyzed until after 2001.) 
And who says academics don't have a sense of humor? You can find out what famous historical figures were left-handed -- pick whether you'd like to read the list in French, Spanish or Pig Latin. FTR: There have been seven left-handed U.S. presidents, one of whom is currently in office.
