L. Frank Baum moved to Chicago in the early 1890s to take a job with the Evening Post. Chicago is only a yellow brick road or two from the Hoosier community of Chesterton, which has become well known for its annual Oz Festival, founded 18 years ago by the proprietor of the Yellow Brick Road OZ Gift Shop and Museum as a strategy for revitalizing the region's economy. An estimated 50,000 Oz enthusiasts were in Chesterton last month for the festivities, many of which you can see in video and audioclips at this Web site.
