Re-thinking class presentations

Maureen Reynolds, IU Kokomo

Maureen Reynolds, assistant professor of education at IU Kokomo, is using on-line tools, including the Web and Oncourse, for the first time in her classes this semester. She is encouraging her students to use the tools outside of class time. Many are enthusiastic, but some who work and commute to class can't fit into their schedule visits to the campus public computing sites. As others have reported of their experiences using technology, Reynolds finds there's more preparation up front. Putting together class presentations on PowerPoint requires her to develop more detailed plans for how much information to provide students. She re-thinks how best to present materials, especially when it comes to breaking down complicated material.
