IUSB's senior takes top 'USA TODAY' honor

IU alumna Andrea "Finney" Auf der Heyde (M.S. 1969), a second-grade teacher at Bloomington's Rogers School, has been serving as the Alaskan Iditorad dog sled race's first "Teacher on the Trail." The IU School of Education in Bloomington has provided videoconferencing opportunities between the teacher and area schoolchildren throughout the race. Harrison Bowden (above) concentrated as "Finney" interviewed the 1999 Junior Iditarod winner, Ryan Reddington, March 2. Holding the microphone (right) is Dave Bartlett of the Corporation for Educational Communication. Finney's class and two others were scheduled to "tune in" to the teacher Wednesday (March 24).
