Good morning, Kokomo!!!!!

Indiana University's public radio station WFIU-FM, based at the Bloomington campus, is hoping to expand its transmitting capabilities to the Kokomo area which is not currently served by public radio. The IU station is filing an application with the Federal Communications Commission to establish a repeater transmitter at IUK.

As part of the licensing process, the FCC asks applicants to solicit letters of support from interested citizens in the area to be served. Kokomo residents are invited to send letters to IUK Chancellor Emita Hill, 2300 S. Washington St., P.O. Box 9003, Kokomo, IN 46904-9003.

Christina Kuzmych, WFIU station manager, said plans are to place the transmitter on the roof of IUK's Main Building. The repeater would receive

the WFIU signal by digital telephone line and would rebroadcast it as a low power signal.
With FCC approval, the power could eventually be upgraded into areas immediately adjacent to Kokomo.
