Tired of playing the same old solitaire and Tetris? Oh, you don't play computer games in the office? C'mon, be honest. We all need an occasional breather from stress, and after all, we only play during lunch or after hours, right? Besides, research has shown (a phrase we all revere) that games are brain sharpenerseven better than a dose of gingko extract. Not for us, though, the GenY space battles or rope-muscled Conan knockoffs. No, the best mind sharpeners are the old standbys: crossword puzzles, brain teasers and such.
There's a dandy little collection of challenges at The Riddler site despite a couple of simpleton entries. Download "Mental Floss" or "Mental Floss Lite."
After you enter a word in Anagram Insanity, the computer delivers all the letter combinations. It's especially handy for Scrabble or puzzle solving. Bewilder Web's Online Puzzle Rally features a half dozen to dozen puzzles per contest. Solving each puzzle advances you to the next.
If all this wearies your brain cells and deflates your ego, point your browser toward the comfortable familiarity of Wednesday night-style bingo with new games posted every 20 minutes.
