The Challenger Scholarship Program at IUPUI marked its 10th anniversary last week, on the same day (Jan 28) in 1986 that the space shuttle Challenger exploded, killing its seven crew members, including "Teacher in Space" Christa McAuliffe. Since its inception in 1988, the program has awarded full-tuition scholarships with stipends to 35 outstanding IUPUI students in the sciences, engineering, social sciences and teaching.

The IU Drug Analysis Laboratory for Athletic Drug Testing and Toxicology is one of only two labs sanctioned by both the International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Olympic Committee. Established in 1984 at the IU School of Medicine, the lab has tested countless amateur athletes for pre Olympic and Olympic events.
