The current generation of science and engineering graduate students will be called upon to provide leadership in ethics in their professional communities.
Workshop programs will deal with a conceptual understanding of research ethics and ethical thinking, and an awareness of the ethical literature dealing with those approaches. The historical context in which scientific misconduct has developed will be discussed, as well as variations in conventions and expectations among differing disciplines.
The workshop is being supported by the National Science Foundation, the IU Office of Research and the University Graduate School (RUGS), the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics and IU's Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions.
