- The 1995 sale of an 18th-century Gofriller cello donated to the IU School of Music has resulted in the creation of the Eva Heinitz Cello Scholarship, awarded this year to five outstanding student cellists on the Bloomington campus. Eva Heinitz, internationally known as the "Grande Dame of the Cello" and one of the few 20th-century masters of the viola da gamba, donated the rare instrument, valued between $600,000 and $1 million.

A 1955 translation of Ovid's Metamorphosis remains the all-time best-seller from the IU Press at one-half million copies. IU has had the largest university book publishing operation in the Big Ten since the 1970s and is the sixth largest in the nation.
