IPFW Schlafly-Weddington debate March 23 to address gender issues

Next month, Phyllis Schlafly, president of the conservative Eagle Forum and author of the 1964 bestselling book, A Choice Not An Echo, will debate with Sarah Weddington, the attorney who argued the winning side of the landmark Roe v. Wade case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The two will meet in the ballroom of IPFW's Walb Union at 7:30 p.m. March 23.

The Roe decision guaranteed women the right of choice when determining whether to terminate a pregnancy. Weddington is the author of the bestseller A Question of Choice and is a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin. For coverage of the 25th anniversary of Roe v. Wade:

England swings like a pendulum do

Dress like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and you'll have it right. Jayne Bond and the Pink Martinis will play at the 10th annual Janus Ball March 7 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis.

The Big Pudding

IU alum Kevin Kline ('70) is Hasty Pudding Man of the Year.

Kline will be the guest of Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard University this weekend (along with Woman of the Year Sigourney Weaver) as part of the high jinks on that campus when America's oldest theater company puts on its 150th annual show.

That's Kline (above) in a 1969 IUB Department of Theatre production of Waltz of the Toreadors.
