Did you know there are more Barbie dolls in the United States than human
beings? "I, Doll: The Unauthorized Biography of America's Sweetheart," a
film exploring the "Barbie phen-omenon," will be shown at 8 p.m. in the
Georgian Room of the Indiana Memorial Union, IUB, March 11. Sherri Smith,
gender studies and English, will lead a discussion following the film.
The first International Women's Day celebration at IUB is scheduled March
8 at the Leo R. Dowling International Center. Contact Mayumi Nakano via E
mail at manakano@indiana.edu.
In January, IUPUI's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers was
named the best in the Midwest at the organization's regional conference
in Cincinnati. African Americans make up about 11 percent of the U.S.
workforce, but they comprise just 4 percent of the nation's engineers.
