Karen Kovich is a professional artist, a single mother and a part-time
student in art history at IU Bloomington this semester.
She's also the winner of the IUB Office for Women's Affairs Designing Women Poster Contest (poster is at right).
Kovich's work is on display in the glass exhibit case in front of Whittenberger Auditorium, along with other poster contest submissions, during Women's History Month.
Among the women she chose to depict were aviatrix Amelia Earhart, the Old Testament's Esther, retired educator Doris Seward of Bloomington, and Dr. Mary Britton, the first black female physician of Lexington, Ky. Others in the poster are girls from Kovich's grade school because, she said, "they will make the history of women in the future."
