Kentuckians enrolling at IUS through reciprocity program

By Jim Stammerman

As part of the reciprocity agreement between the higher education authorities in Indiana and Kentucky, IU Southeast has been gradually opening up its classes and degree programs for certain Kentuckians to enroll at in-state rates.

The program, which has been in operation on a limited basis for four years, will begin next fall. All IU Southeast degree programs will be open at in-state tuition rates to all Kentuckians living in Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham counties.

Similarly, nearly all academic programs at the University of Louisville and Jefferson Community College will be available for Hoosiers from Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Crawford counties. Exceptions at U of L include two graduate degree programs, which will not be part of reciprocity until 2001, and the medical, dental and law schools of U of L.

During the current semester, more than 200 eligible Kentuckians are enrolled at IUS.
