The similarities between the African-American and Latino communities will take center stage during a special Women's History Month presentation at IUPUI Monday, March 23.
"Black and Brown Get Down: A Conversation on Commonalities" will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 115 of the Student Activities Center. The center is located at 815 W. Michigan St.
The panel discussion will feature Theresa Roberts, IUPUI associate professor of social work; Monica Medina, IUPUI visiting lecturer in education; Luis Garcia, coordinator of Latino/Chicano student affairs, Michigan State University; and Rodney Patterson, director of minority student affairs and multicultural development coordinator, Michigan State.
Panelists will examine similarities across race, gender and culture within the African-American and Latino communities. The event is open to the public at no charge.
"Black and Brown Get Down" is part of a series of events sponsored by the IUPUI Office of Campus Interrelations in honor of Women's History Month.
