- For the 1988 Sport Psychology Conference, Fortune 500 companies were
asked to identify the top female executive in their firm. When asked if
they had participated in organized sports as young women, 86 percent
responded affirmatively.
- It has been 140 years since Mary Thomas became the first woman
admitted to what was then the Indiana Medical College.
- The Center of Excellence in Women's Health at the IU School of Medicine
has raised $70,000 from non-government sources to conduct behavioral
science research and funding to improve breast cancer screening among
indigent women. The center has also developed a leadership plan to
increase the number of women on the medical school faculty; 15 percent
of tenured faculty are female.
