Next Tuesday (April 22) is the anniversary of the 27th original Earth Day, first celebrated with a theme of "Give Earth a Chance" and an agenda of reclaiming the purity of the air, water and living environment.
Earth Day activities have been held by many groups and on various dates, often on the weekend closest to April 22. A quick scan of this Earth Day '97 site finds an "Earth Day at the Zoo" set for Sunday (April 20) in Louisville and public activities at the U.S. Environmental Agency Region 5 office in Chicago Tuesday through Thursday (April 22-24).
