What's cool -- pick of the week

No vacation plans for the summer? Now that we've raised your conscience environmentally, let us suggest that you become an "ecotourist." Tourism is the world's largest industry. And according to The Eco-Source Web Site at http://www.podi.com/ecosource/, ecotourism is also the fastest growing segment of the industry. As defined by The Ecotravel Center at http://www.ecotour.org/CIECO/cieco.htm, ecotourism is "responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and sustains the livelihood of local people."

Ecotourism banner An ecotrip may take you to an exotic location -- consider Madagascar, or a more familiar one -- try watching wildlife in Florida. But, don't worry. As they say at The Eco-Source site, "I don't like spiders and snakes, but that ain't what it takes to be an ecotourist."

Find these Web sites and others using Yahoo. Choose Society and Culture, then Environment and Nature, and then Ecotourism.
