Home Pages has been previewing sites around the IU campuses and around
the world throughout the year, and today we take you to the Webby Awards
home page. Webbies, much like Oscars for film, honor the most creative
and innovative Web sites of the year and the editorial, design and
technical teams behind them. Following in the footsteps of film as well as
music and literature, organizers of the Webby Awards last month
presented awards in 19 categories at a bash in San Francisco and
announced the formation of the non-profit International Academy of
Digital Arts and Sciences, an industry-wide organization that will
supervise and sponsor a number of year-round activities, including a
newsletter, on-line and off-line events, and special awards and
conferences that bring people together from within and without the
industry to share ideas and information. Go to this page to see top placers
in categories that include education, health, games, politics/law,
money/business, music, print/zines, community and news. There's also a
category for " weird:" (this year's winner depicts Sesame Street's Ernie
popping up in street scenes of historical photographs.)
