Saxophonist Eugene Rousseau, Distinguished Professor of music at IUB, accompanied by Charles Webb, retiring dean of the IU School of Music, play for members and guests of the IU Alliance of Distinguished Rank Professors at a recent gathering at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington.The alliance has named Webb an honorary member, the first time such an award has been made. Charles Webb, retiring dean of the Indiana University School of Music, has been made an honorary member of the IU Alliance of Distinguished Rank Professors, the first time such an award has been made.
The alliance was officially formed five years ago to support and promote areas of excellence throughout the university. Some examples are financial support for new library acquisitions and the recommendation that the IU Institute for Advanced Study be formed.
Members also act as advisers to the university population on a wide variety of matters.
