A former U.S. vice president and a current congresswoman will be in the spotlight at post-commencement ceremonies Sunday (May 11) on the IUPUI campus. Dan Quayle is scheduled to speak at a ceremony for his alma mater, the IU School of Law-Indianapolis, in Sagamore Ballrooms 4-7. U.S. Rep. Julia Carson will be featured at the School of Social Work event in Sagamore Ballroooms 1-3. Appropriate time for both: 4:30 p.m.
They're known as the IPFW "Road Scholars" and they came from as far away as California, New York, Connecticut and Florida to launch a new initiative at the Fort Wayne campus. The 81 scholars spent the past two weeks participating in the first IPFW Elderhostel, a concept created at college campuses in New England in 1975 to provide life-long learning for persons age 60 and over. Elderhostel now serves more than 300,000 participants worldwide.
