Don't give up!

By Chip Rondot

Don't bonk your computer with a sledge hammer. Getting frustrated by computers is common. Given the pace at which computers and software are changing, it's almost impossible to keep up. Few of us have time to read 400-page software tutorials. University Computing Services (UCS) knows that. That's why UCS publishes hundreds of handy computing how-to guides. Computing doesn't have to be one big frustration after another.

We've talked a lot in Home Pages about getting answers to specific questions online using the UCS Knowledge Base. But what if you want to get an overall idea of how to use software like Netscape Navigator, or learn how to use Photoshop on a Macintosh? Then it's time to visit UCS Publications online.

At the UCS Publications Web site, you'll get access to scores of how-to guides and the latest IU computing news. Each guide there is tailored to computer users at IU. They're in a manageable format too. They're updated each semester so you can keep up with the latest developments.

What's more, if you subscribe to the UCS Monitor E-mail-based newsletter, we'll tell you when UCS publishes new or revised how-to guides. We'll also brief you on computing news at IU. Find subscription help at the UCS Publications Web site. Make sure to check the UCS Times Online, regularly, too. It's IU's Web-based computing news magazine where you can read detailed articles about computing.

So stop your computing anxiety dead in its tracks and put that sledge hammer away. Hop online and visit the UCS Publications Web page and get the computing how-to guides and news you need.
