Indiana University staff, faculty and their spouses are encouraged to participate in this year's Mini University June 18-23 and take advantage of a special $35 discount. The regular registration fee is $135; staff, faculty and their spouses can attend for only $100. Now in its 29th year, Mini University is a week-long continuing education program that offers noncredit classes in a wide variety of subjects. Sponsored by the IU Alumni Association and the Division of Continuing Studies, the "Mini" attracts hundreds of alumni and friends who attend classes taught by IU's finest faculty. Nearly 100 titles will be offered and most classes are held in the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington. Remember all the hype about the millennium? Things don't seem any different now than they were in 1999. Morton Marcus, director of the Indiana Business Research Center, may provide insight in his Mini University class, "Now that 2000 is Here, What's Different?" Marcus is only one of many IU faculty members who offer valuable information (and even entertainment) during IUB's Mini University. Participants can choose 15 different noncredit classes from nearly 100 total, all designed for mental exercise, relaxation and pleasure. Class topics cover the arts, business and technology, domestic issues, health, fitness and leisure, human growth and development, humanities, international affairs and science. Tour the Kinsey Institute or check out IU's electronic library. In other words, there's something for everyone. Rudy Pozzati, distinguished professor emeritus of fine arts, will
present "What Did I Buy: Fine Print or Reproduction?" Especially
timely in a presidential election year are: "Don't Vote: It Just
Encourages Them," taught by Marjorie Hershey, professor of political
science, or "Democracy for Sale: Money and Politics," taught by
Peter Seybold, director of IU's Division of Labor Studies. A complete listing of topics is included in the Mini University 2000
brochure, which can be requested from the IU Alumni Association Office.
Advance registration is encouraged and can be completed by returning the form in the brochure or by phone and credit card. For more information, call the IU Alumni Association at 812-855-6120 or E mail iualumni@indiana.edu.
