How sweet it is!

Commencement 2000

IU Southeast nursing student
Leave it to the nursing students at Indiana University East (left) to seed the commencement clouds with confetti, those wonderful bits of colored paper derived from the Italian word for "candy." Confetti was so named when "paper rain" became a substitute for the candies once thrown skyward at medieval festivals.

The nursing students at IU Southeast (and that's one of them in the lower left photo) were equally as celebratory, sporting pink leis and blowing soap bubbles at the IUS Amphitheater, where a record number of campus graduates (763) received their degrees.

The face of achievement? How sweet it was for those participating in each of the eight IU campus commencements in early May, at which 13,458 students stepped toward their futures equipped with new academic credentials.

Memories are forever
