The Learning to Teach/Teaching to Learn program at the IU School of
Education on the Indianapolis campus has won second-place honors in the
1997 Distinguished Program in Teacher Education competition, sponsored
by the national Association of Teacher Educators.
For six years, students from IU, Princeton, Emory, Harvard and several
Israeli universities have been excavating the ancient Tel Bet-Shemesh, a
seven-acre mound in Israel near the site of the unfolding Biblical story of
Samson and Delilah. The royal border town was controlled at various times
by Canaanites, Philistines and Israelites.
