Dedication of the Indiana University Cancer Research Institute is scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. at the facility, located on the Indianapolis campus.
The 63,950-square-foot building will be the workplace of more than 198 scientists and investigators engaged in solving the mysteries of the many human conditions collectively known as cancer.
IU President Myles Brand, Gerald L. Bepko, chancellor of the IUPUI campus; Robert W. Holden, dean of the School of Medicine, John Walda, president of the Trustees of IU, and retired U.S. Rep. John Myers, who helped secure $10 million in federal funding toward construction of the facility, will speak. Also, IU alumnus, faculty member and philanthropist Dr. Joseph E. Walther will receive an honorary doctor of science degree.
A reception and guided tours will follow the ceremony.
