Bloomington faculty, staff invited to enjoy free ice cream Wednesday

"My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it's on your plate -- that's my philosophy."

-- Thornton Wilder, The Skin of Our Teeth

Polish up your sweet tooth; there's free ice cream coming our way!

The Indiana University Foundation will host an old-fashioned ice cream social from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 1) in the Old Crescent, next to the Rose Well House. Open to all faculty and staff on the Bloomington campus, the treat is the Foundation's way of showing appreciation for employee support of the campus Endowment Campaign.

Members of the campaign's national steering committee as well as deans and development directors will be doling out scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with your choice of (or all) chocolate, butterscotch, nuts, cherries, whipped cream, and if you wish, "one banana, two bananas, three bananas, four,"...everything to make a proper banana split.

National steering committee co-chair Jack Kimberling and IUB Chancellor Ken Gros Louis will head the team serving the staff the free treat. The Indiana Memorial Union is providing the ice cream.

The Endowment Campaign, Investing in the Future of Indiana University Bloomington, is the largest in IU's history. Its $350 million goal is intended to support all academic units on campus.
