United Way campaign: 'Now more than ever'

"Strong Commitment, Strong Community -- We Care...Now More Than Ever" is the slogan of the United Way campaign for the IUB campus. The 1997 goal for the campaign, which extends through Nov. 14, is $500,000. Last year the Bloomington campus contributed more than $430,000, which was slightly more than 27 percent of Monroe County's total pledges and gifts.

Several campaign activities are planned. During "Restaurant Week," Oct. 13-19, many local restaurants will donate the profits from one or more days. Volunteers will be matched with United Way agencies during the "Week of Caring," Oct. 18-25. School of Business students are planning a pumpkin sale, and residence halls will have a "Miss a Meal" contribution day.

The United Way Annual Flea Market, sponsored by the Student Alumni Association, will be held on Oct. 22, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in the area between the HPER building and the Art Museum.
