Mikhail Gorbachev will open his U.S. lecture tour with an address at the Indiana University Auditorium on the Bloomington campus Monday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Indiana Memorial Union Board, the lecture is titled "Peace in the 21st Century."
Gorbachev served as president of the Soviet Union from 1990-199l and as general secretary of the Polit Bureau of the Central Committee, Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1991, he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
He founded and has led the Gorbachev Foundation, a non-partisan educational foundation, and Green Cross International, a Geneva, Switzerland-based organization focusing on global conflict prevention.
Free tickets to the general public will be available Monday (Oct. 6) at the IU Auditorium box office.
