NEW ALBANY -- While IU Bloomington begins to explain its new classification and compensation program to its clerical and technical employees, about 90 CL/TE staff employees at IU Southeast learned details of the new plan there last week.
Ann Lee, director of Human Resources at IU Southeast, said her office has met with all employees to explain the results of a classification study performed with the help of William M. Mercer Inc. and how it affects them.
While it is impossible for the changes to please everyone, Lee was pleased to report that a number of affected IU Southeast employees saw a positive adjustment in the form of higher wages or salaries.
"Obviously it defines our position in relation to the market, which we have not known," Lee said. "We also have been able to improve our position from 93 percent to 97 percent of market. We are now closer to the market."
