The first holder of the Culbertson Chair in writing is Donald J. Gray, professor of English at IUB.
The new chair as well as enhanced writing classes are two of several benefits in store for English students at IUB, made possible by an endowment established through a bequest from Dr. Clyde G. Culbertson of Columbus.
Gray joined the faculty as a lecturer in 1956. On his way to a full professorship and, now, an endowed teaching position, Gray gathered honors which include the University Distinguished Service Award, the University Teaching Award and the Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award.
