The IU Bloomington College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) has received the largest gift in its history with the announcement of a $5 million contribution from Jack and Linda Gill of Houston, Texas.
Jack (Ph.D. '62) is the president of Vanguard Venture Partners, a leading high-tech ventures capital firm with offices in Palo Alto, Calif., and Houston. Linda is a volunteer at the Methodist Hospital in Houston and is on the board of the University of Houston School of Music.

The Gill family is committed to giving back to the education system, which they say has provided them with so many opportunities. They also support the COAS Dean's Scholars Program, Friends of Chemistry and the Carmack Lectureship. They endowed the George Challis Scholarship in the IU School of Business. They are also lifetime members of the Friends of Music and have endowed the Linda Challis Gill and Jack M. Gill Music Scholarship Fund.
