Akwasi B. Assensoh, Afro-American studies, IUB, has won the Presidential
Award of the Association of Third World Studies for his work in
establishing a structure for and improving the status of study of Third
World issues.
- The organ in the IU Auditorium was built in 1889 and installed at IU in
1944. A total of 4,543 pipes are controlled from the console, which has
four manuals and pedals. There are 88 stops and 76 ranks, and 56 different
combinations of stops.
- Looking forward to a break? Ebenezer Scrooge must have put together the
IU schedule in 1860; the first term ran from Sept. 24-Dec. 24. Since
transportation was mostly of the four-legged kind, some students
wouldn't have had a chance to get home in time for Christmas Day. Classes
resumed Jan. 2.
