The second session of the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies' faculty development program on Web technology is scheduled Friday, Nov. 21, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Brought to all the IU campuses via the Virtual Indiana Classroom (VIC), the program will explore issues involved in creating, running and maintaining Web-based distance learning courses. All faculty, associate instructors, interested graduate students and staff are encouraged to attend.
Presenters will be Carmen Simich-Dudgeon, language education, IU Bloomington, and Kathy Trier, sociology, IPFW. Both have developed and administered courses on line.
VIC campus sites are: IUB -- Wright Education, 1002; Columbus -- Main 165; IU East -- Middlefork 124; IU Kokomo -- Main 214; IUPUI -- Nursing 314; IU Northwest -- Hawthorn 338.
In the first session, presenters showed their Web pages and discussed what they accomplish in using the Web to support their courses, the resources and time they needed to develop their pages, the effects of using the Web on their teaching and students' learning, and how they integrate Web pages into their courses.
