Peg Cagle is a middle school teacher in Los Angeles, Calif. Along with
husband Daryl Cagle, a syndicated cartoonist and first vice president of
the National Cartoonists Society, she has developed a Web site using
newspaper editorial cartoons as a teaching tool in social sciences, art,
journalism and English, from elementary through high school levels. The
site includes current work from 24 of the best editorial cartoonists in the
world, such as Pulitzer Prize winners Jeff MacNelly, Mike Luckovich, Signe
Wilkinson and Mike Peters. Whether you're a classroom teacher, a student
of current events or the parent of a school-age child, this site provides
study opportunities in politics and government utilizing symbolism,
satire, metaphor and irony. Home Pages is also using this site as a
catalyst for creative cartooning among our readers: Our Home Toons
contest deadline is Dec. 15.
