Indiana University's door for international students opens both ways. Students from other countries have been coming to IU for more than 150 years and IU has been sponsoring programs and sending students to other countries for more than half a century. Each time there is an entry or exit, the world grows a little smaller and human knowledge and understanding grow immensely.

Two of the university-wide offices at IU which are heavily involved in fostering these international activities are offices of International Services (for students coming to IU) and Overseas Study (for IU students going abroad). Both are part of IU's Office of International Programs, which is the central administrative office responsible for promoting and coordinating the growth of international studies and programs at the eight campuses of Indiana University.
