Ten international students from countries including Japan, Haiti, Russia
and Turkey are currently attending IU Kokomo.
IU Southeast has alumni living in each of the 50 states and at least nine
foreign countries. This summer, the campus had a record 15 students
studying abroad.
Noriko Kuwahara of Tokyo is IU East's first Japanese student. Having
received an associate degree in the spring, she is currently studying for a
baccalaureate degree in sociology. Last spring, as part of her course work,
she oversaw the planting of a grove of flowering cherry trees on campus.
The trees are a cultural symbol of education in her country.
