Cheryl G. Sullivan has begun her appointment as vice chancellor for external affairs at IUPUI. At Indiana University Southeast, William Tromble is the new and first vice chancellor for external affairs on the New Albany campus.

Sullivan Sullivan, a leading state and national expert in health and social services policy, fills the position vacated in August by Eugene R. Tempel, who was named executive director of the IU Center on Philanthropy. She had been secretary of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, the state's largest agency, during the administration of former Gov. Evan Bayh. She had held executive positions in state government since 1989.

The IUPUI vice chancellor for external affairs oversees the operations involved with government, community and alumni relations, intercollegiate athletics and communications.

Tromble Tromble assumes the vice chancellorship for external affairs at Southeast following a seven-year stint at Delaware State University, where he served as chief external affairs officer. Previously, he was director of special campaigns at Ball State University in Muncie. He will oversee the offices of Community Relations, Alumni Relations and the Ogle Center at IU Southeast.
