What facilities for students are most needed on your campus?

"Dormitories. I have been on this campus as either a student or an employee since 1974 and have seen the campus grow considerably. The one missing ingredient in building a strong campus community and a supportive alumni base is dormitories. I would love for my own children to attend my wife's and my alma mater, but I would also love to have them live on a campus."

"The facility most needed by students at IUSB is a student activities center. I have been to each campus and have seen that only South Bend does not have a social activities area for students on campus. President Brand commented a year ago that learning happens both in and out of the classroom. We only have 'in' right now."

and dean of students, IUB

"The students I interact with most frequently cite the need for late night study space; more programming, meeting and office space for student groups; and more suites or apartment-like space in student housing. I would add that it is important that any space identified to meet these needs be accessible to students with disabilities."

for student affairs, IU Southeast

"Student residential housing as well as an adequate student center are needed to improve the learning environment outside the classroom for our students. Housing and an improved student center would add immeasurably to the sense of community, increase the diversity of our student body and enhance the image of IUS with our various constituencies."

Richard E. Slocum
Richard E. Slocum
associate dean of student affairs, IUPUI

"Speaking as an individual, I believe there are two facilities needed at IUPUI. The first is a student center to provide a central location for the delivery of student services such as food service, bookstore and enrollment services, as well as support of student learning, student leadership development and multicultural experiences. The second is additional undergraduate student housing."
