Karl Zacker Director of IU’s Camp Brosius Elkhart Lake, Wis. | Camp Brosius offers a captivating setting on
the shores of Elkhart Lake, just an hour’s drive north of Milwaukee,
Wis. The Victorian charm of the historic inn and other distinctive
features of this century-old resort have made it a favorite summer retreat
for many IU alumni, faculty, staff and their families for more than 25
years.
There are a wide variety of organized activities including tennis, golf, horseshoes, sailing, volleyball, softball, cards and day trips. Each week, an IU faculty member presents a faculty forum–an evening seminar on subjects of contemporary interest. There are also many opportunities for adults to engage in canoeing, rowboating, hiking, fishing, reading or just relaxing by the crystal clear waters of Elkhart Lake. The evenings offer families a chance to participate in such things as campfire sing-along, talent shows, pontoon boat rides or a family stroll through the picturesque Village of Elkhart Lake. Our children’s program offers creative age-appropriate programming during the day, all week long. Our camp staff, primarily our very own IU students, engage the children in crafts, games, athletics and day trips while our waterfront personnel instruct sailing, boating and swimming. CPR and first-aid trained caregivers provide the best in infant care, and accommodations allow for babies to nap in the nursery during the day. Delicious meals are prepared by a full-time staff in our recently remodeled kitchen facility. Meals are served in the dining hall or on the patio, both of which offer a peaceful waterfront view. Accommodations vary from cottages overlooking the lake, to rustic cabins for those campers who like to keep vacations simple. Camp Brosius is a very special place! It combines family fun and relaxation with the pride, spirit and tradition of Indiana University. There is something for everyone…from infants to grandparents! Come enjoy a week of true IU camaraderie at one of IU’s best kept-secrets…CAMP BROSIUS!
