IU Kokomo Chancellor Ruth Person
(second from right) posed with administrators from the IU School of
Nursing (IUSON) following the recent announcement of the IUK Division of
Nursing’s new master’s degree program in community health nursing.
Pictured with Person are (left to right) Sharon Farley, executive
associate dean for academic affairs for IUSON; Penny Cass, dean of the IUK
Division of Nursing; and Angela McBride, university dean of IUSON. A
collaboration with the IUPUI nursing program will allow the Kokomo campus
to schedule graduate courses for the new degree beginning in the fall. The
new master’s degree in community health nursing is a match for the
health-care needs of Howard County and north central Indiana, said Nancy
Schlapman, coordinator of IUK’s baccalaureate and higher degrees in
nursing. "The overall focus of community health includes illness and
disease management and health promotion, risk reduction and disease
prevention."
