By Jayne Spencer

 Moynihan

Tune in Monday (April 17) for a live Webcast featuring prize-winning economists, past and current university presidents, and leaders from government and industry sponsored by the Association of American Universities (AAU), a century-old organization chaired by IU President Myles Brand. (See Brand's Viewpoint column, page A-2.)

Topics will include the role of research universities in innovation, social mobility and quality of life; the future of the university, industry and government research partnerships; and the future of research universities. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-New York) will deliver remarks.
Brand will open the Webcast, which will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The AAU was founded in February 1900 at a two-day conference that 14 of the nation's leading Ph.D.-granting institutions held at the University of Chicago.
